What to expect for your child’s FIRST Orthodontic Adventure:
The goal for this first visit is for you and your child to have a positive experience and gain some understanding about the early stages of orthodontic treatment. You can expect this visit to last between 20-30 minutes.
A Warm and Friendly Greeting
As we welcome you and your child to Smilen Dental Group, you will be greeted with warm smiles from our front desk team! Be sure to present your Birthday Postcard to receive a special Birthday Box prize!
Meeting the Orthodontic Team
When it’s time for the appointment, our orthodontic team will introduce themselves and make your child feel comfortable by asking questions and listening to your child’s interests. We want to get to know your child and build a trusting and fun relationship with them!
To familiarize your child with the environment, the ortho team will give a quick tour of office and introduce our Itero 3D scanner which we fondly have named: “Scan-darella”. We will also show off our super-cool 3D printer! The ortho team has a knack for explaining the exam process and equipment in a kid-friendly way. You may hear them say: “This is our magical x-ray spaceship, where we take special pictures of your teeth!”.
Interactive Examination
During the initial examination, Dr. B will take a close look at your child’s teeth, bite, and overall dental alignment. The ortho team will make it interactive by letting your child count their teeth using a small mirror and helping to differentiate between adult and baby teeth. This helps in building trust and making the experience enjoyable.
Imaging
If necessary, we will take a Panoramic Xray and/or photo to get a clear picture of your child’s dental structure. Our team will explain the process in a kid-friendly manner.
Understanding the Results
Dr. B will explain the findings to you and your child in simple terms. He will discuss any early signs of alignment issues, bite problems, or growth concerns related to your child’s jaw and face. This helps in understanding the current state of your child’s dental health.
Personalized Treatment Plan
If any treatment is required, Dr B will outline a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs. The ortho team will explain the steps in a fun way, making it sound like an exciting mission to achieve a perfect smile.
Open Q&A Session
We encourage you and your child to ask any questions you may have. Dr. B is here to provide clear answers and reassurance. No question is too small, and we aim to make you feel fully informed and comfortable with the process.
